Pothole Solution
Why Pothole occurs?
- Potholes occur when the pavement or the base can’t support the traffic loads.
- Mainly two factors affect pavement and develop potholes due to water and traffic.
- Heavy traffic and other factors create cracks, which allow water into the pavement and soften the base.
- The pounding of traffic causes the weak base to migrate, leaving nothing to support the pavement. Further traffic impact eventually causes the unsupported pavement to breakup.
- Potholes also create due to freeze/thaw situations.
When water in the pavement or base freezes, it expands and pushes the pavement above. The swelling expansion forces causes pavement to weaken resulting in potholes.
